The Ministry of Education notes that they have received 4000 appeals regarding Grade 1 admissions, from students who have not received a school to attend.
Additional Secretary to the Ministry R.M.M. Rathnayake noted that a special complaints team has been established to look into these appeals. Rathnayake noted that necessary action will be taken after bringing the relevant principals and complainants together to resolve the issue.
He added that they would ensure that every child is admitted to a suitable school.
