Customs confiscates foreign cigarettes worth over Rs 1.5mn

A Sri Lankan national was apprehended at the BIA this morning along with a stock of foreign cigarettes worth over Rs 1.5mn.

According to Additional Customs Director General Sunil Jayaratne, the suspect had arrived in the country at around 12.50 am from Dubai.

The suspect was in possession of 31,200 cigarettes according to customs officials. The cigarettes were confiscated and the suspect was fined Rs 50,000
