43,128 people have been arrested for excise related offences over the past year. The Excise Department added, 4252 of them were women.
The suspects have been arrested on charges of illegally producing, possessing, marketing and transporting alcoholic beverages. The Excise Department said it had received in excess of Rs. 180 million worth of fines during raids.
