Medical scam at the Motor Traffic Department

The Ministry of Passenger Transport Management says investigations have commenced to curb a group that was engaging in fraudulent activities during diabetes tests conducted to obtain a driver’s license. The investigation has commenced based on complaints lodged by several victims.

The Ministry noted, that a group of employees attached to the Department of Motor Traffic has carried out this scam. It has been revealed that the group had requested bribes between Rs.2000 – Rs.4000 from the applicants stating that their blood sugar levels are higher than the stipulated limits.

The ministry noted that the suspects have made arrangements to issue fake medical reports to the applicants who are diagnosed with diabetes. Issuing a release the subject ministry noted that this is due to the mismanagement of the Department of Motor Traffic.
