A Technical Services office belonging to the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau in Manampitiya, Polonnaruwa caught fire at around 2:45 am today (November 19). The computer system and documents have been damaged due to the fire.
our news reporter stated that the licence division for transporting sand had also caught fire. A Civil Defense Force officer attached to the fire brigade had informed the Polonnaruwa Police when the fire broke out.
Subsequently, firelighters from the Polonnaruwa Municipal Council arrived and extinguished the blaze. Further investigations are to be carried out by the Polonnaruwa police while the cause of the fire has not been identified as yet.
