Four tourists arrested over ATM scam

Four foreigners had been arrested in Mirissa for attempting to steal data from ATM machines, police said.

They said an investigation was launched after a complaint was lodged with the Kotavila Police Station claiming that a foreigner had attempted to steal data from an ATM machine using a skimming device at a private bank in Mirissa.

The foreigners, two Poland nationals, a Bulgarian and an Estonian national were arrested on Wednesday following the investigations.

Police said the arrested suspects would be produced in the Matara Magistrate’s Court
