A Brazilian national has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Negombo Magistrate on charges of smuggling 690 grams of Cocaine into the country last year.
Police said the Customs officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) had arrested the suspect on February 16 last year, on possession of Cocaine.
He was later handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) and was sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday following a long hearing.
