Dengue larvae in 8 districts increase at a rapid pace

Officials of the health sector warn that the density of dengue larvae in 8 districts has been increasing at a rapid pace. An official attached to The National Dengue Control Unit said the number of dengue patients could increase as a result.

Meanwhile, the National Dengue Control Unit states an increase in the number of dengue patients has been reported from the Western province, Kandy, Ratnapura, and Chilaw districts.

According to the Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Doctor Aruna Jayasekara, in excess of 53,000 dengue patients have been reported thus far.

A total number of 70 deaths owing to dengue have also occurred.
