President, Mahinda meets again last night

Hot on the heels of the discussion between the SLFP and the SLPP yesterday morning, President Maitripala Sirisena and Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa met last night for a one on one meeting, informed sources said.

The meeting at President Sirisena’s official residence down Mahagama Sekara Mawatha had lasted for more than one hour and had revolved around the ongoing discussions to form an alliance in view of the upcoming Presidential elections.

Informed sources said that the meeting was cordial and both leaders had reviewed the ongoing discussions between the two parties and had agreed to continue them on a positive note.

The SLFP and the SLPP held official discussions yesterday morning where the SLFP was represented by MPs Dayasiri Jayasekera, Mahinda Amaraweera and Lasantha Alagiyawanna while the SLPP was represented by Party Chairman Prof. G.L. Peiris and National Organizer Basil Rajapaksa.
