What is the stance taken by the UNP when it comes to the Presidential elections?
Minister of Highways and Road Development and Chairman of the UNP Kabir Hashim explaining the delay for the formation of the alliance said the delay was due to certain issues prevailing in the constitution.
He further said that out of five amendments that were submitted, four of them received approval. He further said that one clause needs further discussions which will happen this Saturday (August 17) with the party leaders and the UNP leaders.
Hashim said that the General Assembly of the party will be held in September and that the candidate will be announced before signing the agreement for the alliances. He stated that the candidate will be named and the alliances will be both signed on the same day.
