The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has decided to implement a special transport plan in line with the Poson Festival.
The joint plan by the Sri Lanka Transport Board, the Railway Department and the National Transport Commission is to be implemented from tomorrow(June 14) until the conclusion of Poson season (June 18).
According to the transport plan, 600 buses additional buses are to be deployed across the country. It was reported that additional trips are to be scheduled from Kantale to Seruwawila, Mahiyangana to Anuradhapura via Ella, Anuradhapura to Mihitale and Anuradhapura to Thanthirimale. A special bus service from Anuradhapura to Mihintale steps is to be implemented as well.
Interprovincial buses that operate to Anuradhapura, have decided to change their final destination to Mihintale for the convenience of the pilgrims.
Meanwhile, a special train service to Anuradhapura and Mihintale is to be implemented from noon tomorrow. The Department of Railways added that special train services from Colombo Fort-Anuradhapura, Mahawa-Anuradhapura, Anuradhapura-Beliatta are also in effect.
