Minuwangoda cluster brought under control: Army Chief

The Minuwangoda cluster has been brought under complete control, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva said.

He said a total of 3,106 persons who have contracted the virus have been identified in the Minuwangoda cluster and that only 136 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals at the moment.

“When the second wave of Covid-19 started from Minuwangoda on October 4, we were able to limit it to 3,106 cases. The Minuwangoda cluster has now been brought under complete control,” he said.

The Commander said that if any person was found infected with the virus now in Gampaha, they are found in the Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster.

Meanwhile, the Commander said that a total of 704 Covid-19 patients were reported yesterday and that 541 patients were identified in the Colombo District.

He said most of the patients were identified from the Colombo Municipality.
