The Consumer Affairs Authority stated that legal action has been filed against 4 stores that sold face masks above the maximum retail price.
A senior official stated that 4 shops in Ratnapura and Colombo have been subject to legal action. Raids were carried out islandwide yesterday over the selling of face masks above the maximum retail price, following multiple complaints from the general public.
The Consumer Affairs Authority also noted that face masks can be purchased at Sathosa outlets.
Prices of disposable face masks have been capped by the Government at Rs. 15 while the N95 grade facemasks are priced at Rs. 150.
