The Police Headquarters states that a special security plan is currently in place in line with the Presidential election.
Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara states that 60,175 police officers have been deployed for the election. Meanwhile, 9 DIG’s have also been deployed from police headquarters to beef up security for the Presidential election.
The deployment has been made as per the recommendation of the National Police Commission.
Further SP Ruwan Gunasekara also states that the silent period that was brought into effect on the 13th of this month will continue to be in effect after one week following the Presidential election.
