The power supply to a number of areas have been disrupted by the recent inclement weather. Spokesperson of the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, Sulakshana Jayawardene speaking to media noted that a majority of the outages have been caused by trees falling onto power lines.
Power outages have been reported from the Dehiwala, Malabe, Homagama, Kosgama, Puttlam, Nikawaratiya and Dambulla. Jayawardene noted that steps have alreadfy been taken to restore the power supply to the affected areas.
