Presidential commission probing corruption to question Rishad

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate into allegations of corruption and malpractices that had taken place from 2015 to 2018 within government institutions is scheduled to record a statement from ACMC leader MP Rishad Bathiudeen.

A spokesman for the commission said that a statement is to be recoded from the former minister regarding allegations over the illegal acquiring of 600 acres of land in the Mannar region.

The commission is currently obtaining statements from individuals who had lost their lands pertaining to the complaint. After the recording of those statements are concluded, the former Minister wll be summoned to appear before the commission and give his statement, the spokesman said.

Ven. Thiniyawala Palitha Thera had lodged a complaint alleging that MP Rishad Bathiudeen had illegally acquired 600 acres of land in Mannar by preparing forged deeds and transferring them to his relatives.
