Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shani Abeysekera has lodged a complaint with the Police against Attorney at Law Manoj Gamage over an alleged threat.
Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said the CID Director had lodged the complaint at the Fort Police Station stating that the attorney had threatened him during a press conference on Saturday.
“The lawyer who hold a press conference with regard the case against Dr Mohamed Shafi of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital, has allegedly threatened the SSP Abeysekera that he would need to wear the jumper,” he said
SP Gunasekera said that SSP Abeysekera was the leading investigating officer in the case against Dr Mohamed Shafi and according to the Victims and Witness Protection Act he could not be threatened, the Spokesman said.
