The academic activities of all faculties at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura except for two faculties will commence tomorrow (14).
Faculty of Management Studies & Commerce will reopen on the 15th of May owing to several examinations that are yet to be held.
Acting Vice-Chancellor of Sri Jayewardenepura University Senior Professor Sudantha Liyanage stated that the reopening of the Faculty of Engineering will be announced soon.
It was reported that the students’ hostels of the university will also reopen starting from tomorrow (14).
Meanwhile, the University Grants Commission (UGC) said the Vice-Chancellors were unauthorised to take a final decision on reopening government universities if they are satisfied with the safety status and security of their respective university.
The dates and modes of commencing academic activities at universities would be decided by the Vice Chancellors at any date from the 13th of May, the UGC stated, issuing a statement on Friday (10).
