Sri Lanka’s health authorities on Saturday administered the highest number of Covid-19 vaccines in a single day with nearly 412,211 people inoculated, statistics from the Health Ministry revealed.

Over 96 per cent of people in the Colombo district have received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine while 27.5 percent of people in the district have received the second jab too.

Official figures of the Health Ministry confirmed that over 95 per cent of people in the Gampaha district have been given the first dose of a Covid vaccine and 21.3 percent of people in the district have been fully vaccinated by July 23. Kalutara district has received 83.9 per cent in terms of administering the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

Over 22 per cent of the people in the district have received the second vaccine by Friday evening.

Ministry sources said that the highest percentage of population in Matale, Mannar and Kandy have received the first dose.
