Two million Chinese Sinopharm vaccines was brought into the country this morning

Another consignment containing two million Chinese Sinopharm vaccines was brought into the country this morning to control the spreading of COVID-19, the airport duty manager said.

The vaccines were flown in by two SriLankan Airlines aircraft from Beijing, China.

Accordingly, with the latest consignment of vaccines, altogether 9.1 million Sinopharm vaccine vials have been brought into the country so far, Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals State Minister Channa Jayasumana said.

The consignment was initially stored at the Katunayake Airport Import Cargo Division freezer facility and transported by the Sri Lanka Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) to its Central Warehousing Complex in Colombo by freezer trucks.

The state minister said that steps will be taken to distribute these vaccines to the people residing in other districts who have not been vaccinated so far.
