Matale District Parliamentarian Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon yesterday said all Dedicated Economic Centres(DDCs) and wholesale vegetable stalls in the Western Province will be opened today (03) to enable the traders to purchase vegetables from the Dambulla Dedicated Economic Centre.

“The Government has decided to keep the Dedicated Economic Centres and wholesale vegetable stalls in the Western Province open for the traders to purchase vegetables accumulated at the Dambulla Economic Centre,” Parliamentarian Bandara said.

Addressing the media after inspecting the huge stocks of vegetables at the Dambulla Dedicated Economic Centre last evening, Tennakoon said the wholesale traders will start purchasing vegetables from Dambulla from today.

MP Bandara also discussed the issue with the traders in the Dambulla Economic Centre.

There are six Dedicated Economic Centres in the Western Province for vegetable purchases and the stocks of vegetables accumulated at the Dambulla Centre will be distributed to the retailers at village level through these centres.
