The Acting Inspector General of Police has instructed all police stations in the country are to monitor if groups are engaged in election campaigning wearing face-mask with the symbol, number and name of a candidate contesting the General Election.
The National Elections Commission had notified Sri Lanka Police of complaints which were made on such incidents, Police Headquarters said.
Engaging in election campaigning wearing face-masks with the symbol, number and name of a candidate contesting the General Election is a violation of the elections act, Sri Lanka Police further stated.
