The Senior DIG of the North Central Province had been instructed to launch a probe into the complaint made by UPFA MP Roshan Ranasinghe that he was threatened by President Maithripala Sirisena’s brother Dudley, police said today.

MP Ranasinghe on Friday alleged in parliament that Mr. Sirisena had telephoned and threatened to kill him on three occasions.

The MP also said the police had not conducted any investigation on the death threats.

“The Polonnaruwa Police is the family police station of President Sirisena. I have informed the IGP and nothing has been done about it. Then I informed the CID in writing. The CID had informed that the death threat is not something relevant to them,” he said in parliament.

Responding to the allegations, Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said the complaint lodged by MP Ranasinghe at the Police Headquarters was handed over to the Senior DIG of the North Central Province to launch an investigation.
