Special loan scheme for junior lawyers to be launched today

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka together with the Junior Bar committee will be launching the ‘Suraksha’ distress fund loan scheme for junior lawyers who in need of financial assistance.

The ‘Suraksha’ distress fund loan scheme has a minimal interest component of 2% per annum with a grace period of 6 months of free payment of instalments.

This is the first time a fund of this nature is created for lawyers.

The Memorandum of Understanding for the ‘Suraksha’ distress fund loan scheme will be signed today (18th December) at the BOC head office.

The ‘Suraksha’ distress fund loan scheme was born as a result of the continued efforts by the Junior Bar Committee of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka in a bid to address these unfortunate financial issues faced by Junior Lawyers in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
