Second reading of Budget passed with majority of 99 votes

The vote on the second reading of the 2021 Budget was passed in parliament on Saturday (Nov. 21) with a majority of 99 votes.

A total of 151 votes were cast in favour of the 2021 Budget, while 52 votes were cast against.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa presented the budget to Parliament on the 17th of November and the second reading of the budget was held from the 18th onwards.

The Committee Stage Debate on the Budget will begin from Monday (Nov. 23) and it will be held until the 10th of December.

The Committee Stage vote on the Budget is scheduled to be held on the 10th of December at 5 pm.
