A Police Sub-Inspector was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) for soliciting a monthly bribe of Rs.5000/-.
SSP Padmini Weerasooriya, the Director of Investigations said the suspect was attached to the Child & Women Bureau of the Mirihana Police.
The suspect had obtained a monthly bribe of Rs. 5000/- from a person who was released from a case related to illegal alcohol possession citing a case will be re-filed against the individual.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) said the suspect was arrested when obtaining the bribe due for the month of June.
Further investigations are underway.
