Total COVID-19 cases at 2687, 13 new cases confirmed on Thursday

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka, as of Friday (July 17) has risen to 2687, according to the latest data published by the Ministry of Health.

A total of 13 COVID-19 cases were confirmed on Thursday (July 16).

According to the Government Information Department, of the total positive cases confirmed yesterday, eight were case contacts of Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre – Kandakadu.

Further, four returnees from Qatar and another returnee from the United Arab Emirates also tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

There are 669 active COVID-19 patients receiving treatment, according to the Epidemiology Unit.

The total recoveries in the country stand at 2007 after 6 more patients were discharged on Thursday, following recovery.
