59 criminals traced using fingerprints: Sri Lanka Police

Sri Lanka Police arrested 59 criminals identified through fingerprints, during a special operation conducted in the Western province, according to security officials.

According to Sri Lanka Police, the 59 suspects arrested on Sunday (July 12) during a 24-hour operation, in the Western province, were connected to 103 crimes and they were absconding police.

“During the Special Crimes Prevention Operation, another 56 criminals wanted for other crimes, 81 suspects with open warrants, 123 suspects with day warrants and 211 suspects for crimes related to narcotics and illicit liquor were arrested,” Sri Lanka Police said on Monday (July 13).

The operation was conducted based on instructions of Western Province Senior DIG – Deshabandu Thennekoon.
