The Ministry of Education has decided to resume school activities from Grade 01 to 05 in all parts of the country, EXCLUDING Western provinces and isolated areas on Monday, the 11th January 2021.
The decision was announced by Minister of Education – Prof. G.L. Peiris at a media briefing held on Monday morning (Dec. 21).
Pre-Schools will also re-open starting 11th January 2021 in all areas, EXCLUDING the Western provinces and isolated areas.
“The prevailing situation is not suitable in the Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara districts for schools to be re-opened. This is also valid for schools in the isolated areas,” Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris told reporters.
Activities from Grade 06 to 13 at schools in other parts of the country resumed on November 23rd, 2020 and operations are continuing.
