DMT to re-open Werahera Office, Narahenpita Office will remain closed

The Department of Motor Traffic said it decided to reopen the Werahera office from Wednesday (11) with limited staff.

However, entry to the premises will be limited to the clients who reside in the areas where curfew is not in effect and do not belong to risky areas in the District of Colombo.

An appointment shall be made beforehand to obtain the services, by contacting the following numbers, said the Department of Motor Traffic.

Obtaining new dates and time for the candidates who have already received dates for examinations – 0706354122

Obtaining new dates and time for the candidates who have already received dates for practical tests – 0706354123

Obtaining new driving licenses, renewing the driving licenses, amendments, or any other inquiries regarding driving licenses – 0706354124

The Department of Motor Traffic head office at Narahenpita which had been closed due to the risk of Covid19 cannot be re-opened as the risk is not yet eliminated, said the DMT on Tuesday (10).

However, the services provided by the head office including motor vehicle transfers will be provided through the Jaffna, Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, Gampaha, and Hambantota district offices, with the aim of minimizing the inconveniences faced by the public.

Accordingly, the general public will be able to obtain the said services from Wednesday (11) and the members of the public who expect to obtain the said services shall contact the respective numbers set out below, from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on weekdays and make an appointment to get the services.
