A Justice of Peace (JP) in Okkampitiya has been arrested for the possession of narcotic drugs, stated the Monaragala Crime Prevention Unit.
Reportedly, the Police have found 1250 milligrams of heroin contained in 52 packets on the suspect.
The seized stash of heroin is worth over Rs 100,000, according to the Police.
The 57-year-old arrestee and the seized drugs were produced before the Wellawaya Magistrate’s Court.
Investigations are carried out to determine whether the suspect is involved in a drug racket.
