Ten Navymen among 12 COVID-19 cases identified yesterday

The COVID-19 cases identified yesterday (09) are Sri Lanka Navy personnel and their associates, said Commander of Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva.

Accordingly, 10 out of the 12 patients who were identified to have contracted the novel coronavirus are Navy personnel, said Silva.

The remaining 2 patients are individuals who had kept close contact with the infected Navy personnel.

With the 12 new cases from yesterday, the case count in the country has gone up to 847.

Ministry of Health stated that a total of 260 coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease and were discharged from hospitals.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 578 active cases are currently under medical care at selected hospitals across the country.

Sri Lanka has so far confirmed 9 fatalities due to the virus.
