Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and North-western provinces and in Galle, Matara and Mannar districts after 2.00 p.m., says the Department of Meteorology.
The general public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea areas:
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea areas extending from Mannar to Matara via Puttalam, Colombo and Galle in the evening or night.
Winds will be Easterly to South-easterly and speed will be (20-30) kmph in the sea areas around the island. Wind speed can increase up to 40 kmph at times in the sea areas extending from Mullaitivu to Mannar via Kankesanturai.
The sea area extending from Mullaitivu to Mannar via Kankesanturai can be fairly rough at times.
