2258 people currently housed at 16 quarantine centers : Army Commander

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army said 2258 people are currently housed at 16 quarantine centers across the country.

He said those who arrived in the country from the 01st to 15th of March, who remain at large and not in quarantine centers, must self quarantine and register themselves with Sri Lanka Police and follow the instructions given by Health Officials.

He said among the 1500 to 2000 people who were not sent to quarantine centers, 800 are from Puttlam and if they fail to follow the instructions given, decisions would have to be taken which will affect the entire area.

The Army Commander said the situation in the area is closely monitored.

Further, the Army Commander dismissed claims of escapees from quarantine centers adding a roll-call is carried out at all centers.
