Pathfinder Study on Managing Foreign Policy & Relations with UN System handed over to President

A ‘Study on Managing Foreign Policy & Relations with the UN System, ’ prepared by the  Pathfinder Foundation was Presented to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa recnetly at the Presidential Secretariat.

Through the study the Pathfinder Foundation, a non-profit, non-partisan research & advocacy think-tank, analyses the dynamics of bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and its major foreign partners such as India, China and the United States of America.

The study also looks into Sri Lanka’s relations with the United Nations as well as the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland. UNHRC resolution 30/1 which was co-sponsored by Sri Lanka under the previous administration is also analysed through this study. The study provides several options for the government to take in consultation with the Human Rights Council, based on ground realities and in keeping with the constitution of the country.

The Pathfinder study containing a series of recommendations was handed over to President Rajapaksa by The Chairman of the foundation, Bernard Goonetilleke. Assistant secretary to the president on foreign relations, Admiral Jayanath Colombage was also present at the occasion.
