The interim allowance proposed by the Ministry of Education for teachers and principals will be discussed by the National Salaries and Cadre Commission today (January 24). The Chairman of the National Salaries and Cadre Commission, S. Ranugage said the actions to be taken on this proposal will be taken up for discussion.
The interim allowance will be given to teachers and principles until a permanent solution to salary anomalies can be established. A discussion was recently held between officials of the Ministry of Education and trade union representatives of teachers and principals.
General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union, Joseph Starlin said that unless a solution to the salary anomaly between teachers and principals is found before the 3rd of February, strong union actions will be taken.
