Sri Lanka to create it’s own railway carraiges

State Minister of Railway services C.B. Rathnayake notes that steps will be taken to stop the importation of railway carriages.

Rathnayake noted that steps will be taken to design and create railway carriages in the country in the future. He added that each railway carriage created in this manner would save the country around Rs. 70mn.

The Minister added that steps will be taken to ascertain whether the power sets imported from India are suitable for Sri Lankan railroads.
