Over the past 16 days alone, 6721 dengue patients were reported from across the country. The most recent fatality was reported yesterday (December 17) as a 05 year old from Puttlam passed away after battling dengue for almost 02 weeks.
The child was first admitted to the Puttlam Base Hospital two weeks ago with fever. Two days later he was transferred to the ICU of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children. Sadly, it was here that he lost the battle with dengue, yesterday.
