The United National Party states that although a number of institutions were moved under the purview of the Defense Ministry a subject minister is yet to be appointed.
UNP MP Mujibur Rahuman speaking to reporters noted that as per the 19th Amendment to the constitution, the President cannot hold any ministerial positions.
He went on to note that only a State Minister has been appointed and that no institution were gazetted under his purview.
He further questioned the purpose of accumulating a large number of institutions under the Ministry of Defense without a subject minister.
