A Gazette has been issued naming P. A. Karunasena as Chairman and N. V. Jayasena as Deputy Chairman of the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha. These positions were announced in a special gazette notification issued with the signature of the chairman of the NEC Mahinda Deshapriya.
At the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha election held on October 11, the SLPP secured victory in all 17 electorates and won 17 seats. 7 UNP members and 3 UPFA members were elected.
2 members were elected to the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha from the JVP.
