Principals to be appointed for vacant positions

Minister of Education Dullas Alahapperuma has called for a report on the vacancies of Principals in National Schools. The Ministry of Education said that the report had been requested by the Minister on matters relating to the vacancies in schools and the number of applications received for the vacancy.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Education stated that steps will be taken to interview the deserving candidates after considering the applications received to-date. The ministry added that it planned to appoint principals to vacant national schools before the end of next month.

Applications had been called earlier, but it was delayed due to the non-approval of the Public Service Commission. The Ministry of Education noted that steps will be taken to call for interviews after considering applications received by a group subject to the approval of the Public Service Commission.

The Ministry of Education stated that there are currently vacancies for principals in 274 national schools.
