A meeting of leaders and members of parties that support the Presidential Candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Gotabaya Rajapaksa, is scheduled to take place at 7 PM today (October 29). The meeting will be held at opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa’s official residence in Wijerama Mawatha.
A senior party leader, speaking to media said, the focal point of today’s meeting will be the agreement that will be signed to form the Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Peramuna or Sri Lanka Freedom People’s Alliance. The Senior Party Leader added the meeting will also focus on the positions within the Alliance.
The Agreement to form the Sri Lanka Freedom People’s Alliance is to be signed on the 31st of this month, which will see the unification of several parties including the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, People’s United Front, Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, National Freedom Front, Communist Party and the Sama Samaja Party.
It has been decided to contest the upcoming General Election, under the name of the Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Peramuna and the symbol of the chair.
