Strikes in the public sector continue to inconvenience the general public. Citing several demands, including to do away with salary anomalies, railways workers attached to several trade unions commenced the strike last Wednesday night.
As a result, passengers have had to face great hardships. They say that their day to day activities have been hindered by the strike which has lasted several days. Railway Trade Unions said the strike will continue until their demands are met.
Meanwhile, the strike launched by non-academic staff at universities enters its 19th day today. University Trade Union Committee Secretary Saman Kariyawasam said authorities were yet to provide them with a solution.
