The National Elections Commission says that using state functions and state property to promote or defame candidates is prohibited. As per the Constitution, and as per the Presidential Elections Act and the Rules and Regulations of the Elections Commission, this is a punishable offence.

However, the Commission said, it continues to receive complaints regarding the promotion of politicians at state-sponsored events. The National Elections Commission urged the public to submit complaints regarding such violations.
