Elephant survey postponed due to rain

The survey of elephants in Sri Lanka that was due to be carried out this month has been postponed.

Director of the Department of Wildlife Conservation Lakshman Peiris noted that elephants in the wild have withdrawn into the forests with the onset of the rainy reasons. He noted that taking this into consideration a decision was reached to postpone the survey which was set for the 13th and 14th of this month.

A total of Rs 88mn had been allocated for the survey. The last survey of this nature was conducted in 2011.
