Megapolis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said that his Ministry would promote 1000 recipes of Sri Lankan cuisine abroad by setting up ‘Thuna Paha’ restaurants in different capitals.
The Minister told the media that Sri Lankan cuisine should go global like Thai and Chinese cuisines.
He said around 1000 traditional Sri Lankan recipes had been identified to be promoted globally through Water’s Edge hotel.
“In this hotel, we have ‘Thuna Paha restaurant’. The Water’s Edge hotel will put up similar restaurants in different world capital cities. The first one will be established in Melbourne, Australia and plan are being drawn for similar restaurants in London and New York, which are home to large Sri Lankan population,” he said.
He said Sri Lankan cuisine could be promoted globally among health-conscious people.
