The Presidential Commission appointed to probe allegations of corruption and fraud at state institutions over the past 4 years, has issued a notice to Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam ordering him to appear before the commission on the 11th of September.
Although the Minister was summoned to the commission yesterday (August 2), he had not shown up citing that his mother had fallen ill. The Minister was to summoned to record a statement with regard to the ongoing disciplinary inquiry on the Supply Director of the Ministry, I. M. K. B. Ilangasinghe.
