Commonwealth Secretary- General Patricia Scotland yesterday thanked Kumar Sangakkara for his commitment to working with the Commonwealth to deliver ‘Peace at the Crease’.

Peace at the Crease is a programme launched by the Commonwealth in July 2018 to use the popularity of cricket to promote peace, bring communities together and support progress and development.

In a tweet, Baroness Scotland shared a photo of the two and said, “My thanks to Kumar Sangakkara for a fantastic meeting and his commitment to working with Commonwealth to deliver Peace at the Crease.”

In response, Sangakkara said it was a pleasure to be involved in the Peace at the Crease initiative.

“It was indeed a pleasure and thank you for allowing me to be involved. It’s a wonderful initiative that is timely and relevant. I’m sure there will be many like minded people and institutions joining hands with the Commonwealth to deliver peace at the crease,” he said.
