An year 12 student of the Sapugaskanda Maha Vidyalaya, who had suddenly fallen ill while practising at the school sports ground yesterday and had fallen and was taken to the Kiribathgoda government hospital where he had passed away, police said.
The deceased student had been identified as Aruna Danajaya Hettiarachchi (17) of year 12. Sapugaskanda Police said that the student had fallen ill yesterday morning during sports practices.
The father of the student had informed that an elder brother had also died under similar circumstances due to a heart ailment.
The post mortem was to be conducted at the Kiribathgoda Government Hospital.
Further investigations are continuing led by the OIC of the Sapugaskanda Police Chief Inspector Thusitha Jayakody and PC Percylal.
