Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara says submissions were presented to the court under Article 183 of the Penal Code Ordinance against the director of Kurunegala Teaching Hospital for obstructing the investigations carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Further action would be taken against the director of the hospital after seeking the advice of the Attorney General on the matter.
The hospital’s director is accused of allegedly disallowing the CID investigators to get hold of the records necessary for the ongoing investigations and obstructing the officers to record statements from three radiology specialists with regard to the probes.
Meanwhile, the actions of the CID and the Attorney General’s Department were heavily criticized during a press conference.
